"PK Foam Home"
Friday, April 23rd, 2010 at 1:00pm. 388 Views, 0 Comments.
In what looks like something from out of this world, PK's runoff from torrential rains created a phenomenon below the dam that left locals and experts guessing all week at its origin. We finally have an answer from the Brazos River Authority that attempts to explain the Mystery of the Foamy Phenomenon.
Although we heard wild and crazy rumors all week that the foamy substance was caused by everything from golden algae bloom to suntan lotion products and even "processed beer", the BRA reports the foam is nothing more than a naturally occurring process caused by the release of chemical compounds contained in the runoff from recent heavy rains. To read the technical explanation provided by the Brazos River Authority, click here.

Texas NASCAR Race Weekend

As a first time season ticket holder I attended the NASCAR races, this past weekend, with my husband and friends. Thankfully, the weather was beautiful as we traveled back and forth from Possum Kingdom Lake.
Friday night was my first Camping World Truck Race and it didn't seem much different from a car race. I'm sure trucks are set up differently from cars but I'm really not interested in the mechanical details. The race attendance was low and that may have been due to it being the opening weekend of Deer Season. Kyle Busch won the race which brought about mixed emotions from the fans.
We were unable to attend Saturday's Nationwide Race due to a prior committment and we were unable to find anyone that wanted our free tickets. However, we did set up the DVR…

The Best Boating Season On Possum Kingdom
Tuesday, November 10th, 2009 at 12:33pm. 122 Views, 0 Comments.
I believe that boating on Possum Kingdom Lake is the finest during the fall months. The weather is warm, the water glistens , the trees are colorful and the lake is your own! Just plain peaceful.
Last weekend, my husband and I went for a long (3 hr) boat ride. The water was as calm and smooth as I have seen in a long time. There were even a few waterskiers taking advantage of the great water conditions. Other than the skiers though, we had the lake to ourselves. Great conditions to see what your boat can really do!!
The trees this fall have really been beautiful and with the water glistening and the setting sun this made for some really spectacular views. We are looking forward to next weekend. Saturday is supposed to be 78 degrees. Bluff Creek Marina will…
Big Catches at Possum Kingdom Lake

Fishing at Possum Kingdom Texas, in Palo Pinto County, is on the the mend. Several years back, PK experienced an attack of golden algae along with many other lakes in Texas, which set the fishing back.
Scientists all over the world are currently looking for methods to avert golden algae outbreaks. The Nile River and lakes in South America are experiencing similar outbreaks so the situation is not confined to Texas.
Bass fisherman at PK have currently reported catching bigger largemouth bass than in previous years. Several 6 & 7 lb catches have been netted. I, myself, have landed a 6.65 lb-er using a topwater bait in the early morning.
What have you caught?

Sandies on the Move

I took some customers fishing on Possum Kingdom Lake for some White Bass ( Sand Bass) Saturday. We hit some of the spots where I had been catching them the last several weeks with not much success. So I was on the move looking for the Sand Bass. We headed down the lake in search. We hit several more spots catching only one here and one there. With only about an hour left in the day I tried one last area in hopes of finding some action for my customers. So we ease up to the spot and started catching some Sandies. We ended up catching 60 or so Sandies.
That day is like the old adage if "if at first you don't succeed try, try again. We just kept fishing one spot after another until we found the fish. So if you go out and can't get any bites keep moving and…
Daylight Saving Time

It appears that many people dislike Daylight Saving Time (called "Summer Time" in many places of the world). Click here for more information.
Frequent complaints are the inconvenience of changing many clocks and adjusting to a new sleep schedule. For most people this is a mere nuisance, but some people with sleep discorders find this transition very difficult.
There is evidence that the severity of auto accidents increases and work productivity decreases as people adjust to the time change. Some argue that the energy saved is offset by the energy used by those living in warm climates to cool their homes during summer afternoons and evenings. Similarly, the argument can be made that more evening hours of light encourage people to run errands and visit…
Autumn Leaves are Falling

You don't have to go to the Eastern part of the USA to the see beautiful color in the hillsides. Just take Highway 16 around the Palo Pinto mountain area at Possum Kingdom Lake.
It was in the high 70s today, no wind and the Lake was like glass. Great for fishing or boating. Possum Kingdom Lake never looked better than today.
There are a lot of people that like to have Thanksgiving here at the Lake. With weather like this, I can understand.
