I am excited about the closing date being set for September. I hope as many people as possible will take advantage of this opportunity. Two reasons to purchase your deed are to expand financing options and insure a solid base for future appreciation. In the past, leasehold estate held equal value with deeded properties in Gaines Bend, Sportsman's World, Bobwhite Bluff, Neeley's Slough, and The Cliffs. I believe now that the true value of leasehold will be the actual improvements on the property and a lesser consideration for the lease. I can make a good case for this based on the history of Gaines Bend.
When Gaines Bend offered the purchase of deeds to the residents it was received well and taken advantage of by many. Currently there is 94% deeded in Gaines…

We're looking forward to a big Memorial Day weekend here on Possum Kingdom Lake. The weatherman says we're going to have really great weather all week. The water is warming up considerably. The lake will be buzzing with boats pulling skiers and wake boarders. Hell's Gate is a great destination on the water. If you haven't been there, be sure to head that way and take your cameras. When you see our bright yellow sale signs on homes for sale call us and we'll give you more information on the home. Have a wonderful and safe Memorial Day!
Golden Alga and Possum Kingdom Lake

Lone Star Outdoor News recently interviewed me about the golden alga on Possum Kingdom. Now that the the water is warming up and the sun is shining, reports of people catching fish is great news.
I know the last couple of times I was out I had some luck. On one trip I landed a couple of nice Black Bass, and on another trip I was catching several Sand Bass. Time will tell and this summer I should be able to gauge the effects on the fishing then.
There have been several reports of Channel Cat and Blue Cat being caught on Possum Kingdom's north end. The Texas Parks & Wildlife (TPW) is ready to start stocking a couple hundred thousand Striper back in the PK Lake.
Seems that Possum Kingdom always rebounds and I expect fishing will return soon.

The Rodeo is coming to Mineral Wells – May 6th to the 8th, 2010
The Rodeo parade starts at 5 pm on Thursday and runs thru the downtown area. Most all the trail riders ride in the parade and the grand entry that night at the rodeo. Saturday night is the crowning of the Rodeo Queen. Double D is having a concert Friday night after the rodeo.
This is a great thing to take your family to. The entertainment is wonderful!
The rodeo grounds are across from Walmart near the Mineral Wells High School. The rodeo begins at 8 pm every night (May 6 - 8, 2010).
This is the first year the rodeo is for 3 days only.
"PK Foam Home"

In what looks like something from out of this world, PK's runoff from torrential rains created a phenomenon below the dam that left locals and experts guessing all week at its origin. We finally have an answer from the Brazos River Authority that attempts to explain the Mystery of the Foamy Phenomenon.
Although we heard wild and crazy rumors all week that the foamy substance was caused by everything from golden algae bloom to suntan lotion products and even "processed beer", the BRA reports the foam is nothing more than a naturally occurring process caused by the release of chemical compounds contained in the runoff from recent heavy rains. To read the technical explanation provided by the Brazos River Authority, click here.

The roads here in Palo Pinto county are filling up on the weekends with motorcyclists having lunch at one of our great restaurants and enjoying the pretty scenery. Last week-end there was some die hard wake boarders on the water! So come on out to the lake and jump in!

The Annual Quilt Retreat is coming up in three weeks. I live for this weekend!
My quilt group, famously called the "Crazy Quilters," heads up to Mitchells Resort and RV Park located in Perrin TX. There we spend three days quilting, talking, eating, playing games and enjoying wonderful fellowship. And we bunk in the cutest little cabins that you've ever seen! The Park offers golf, swimming and fishing.
Our group has been together for about nine years. They are the funniest, craziest women you'll ever meet. We meet once a month at Patty's Quilt Shop from 5 – 7 pm the first tuesday of the month; on the second Saturday of each month we meet at the Masonic Lodge in Mineral Wells for an all-day sew day.

Nearby Weatherford Make's Magazine's Top 20 List

American Cowboy Magazine has named Weatherford, TX as one of the Top 20 places to live in the West. According to the Weatherford Democrat, the April-May issue cites the city's yesteryear charm, proximity to Fort Worth and low cost of living as factors in the selection process.
For those who don't know, Weatherford is about a 45 minute drive from Possum Kingdom Lake and about 20 miles west of Fort Worth. The town of approximately 24,000 is modern in terms of amenities, restaurants and shopping, yet it has a vintage Texas small town feeling to it (if you can overlook the growing traffic problems that the city is attempting to address).
Known as the Cutting Horse Capital of the world, Weatherford is close enough to Possum Kingdom that one can live at the…
