Golden Alga and Possum Kingdom Lake

Lone Star Outdoor News recently interviewed me about the golden alga on Possum Kingdom. Now that the the water is warming up and the sun is shining, reports of people catching fish is great news.
I know the last couple of times I was out I had some luck. On one trip I landed a couple of nice Black Bass, and on another trip I was catching several Sand Bass. Time will tell and this summer I should be able to gauge the effects on the fishing then.
There have been several reports of Channel Cat and Blue Cat being caught on Possum Kingdom's north end. The Texas Parks & Wildlife (TPW) is ready to start stocking a couple hundred thousand Striper back in the PK Lake.
Seems that Possum Kingdom always rebounds and I expect fishing will return soon.

I took some customers fishing on Possum Kingdom Lake for some White Bass ( Sand Bass) Saturday. We hit some of the spots where I had been catching them the last several weeks with not much success. So I was on the move looking for the Sand Bass. We headed down the lake in search. We hit several more spots catching only one here and one there. With only about an hour left in the day I tried one last area in hopes of finding some action for my customers. So we ease up to the spot and started catching some Sandies. We ended up catching 60 or so Sandies.

Update To The Fish Are Biting

Several weeks have gone by since the last fishing update and I am here to tell you that the fish are definitely biting here at Possum Kingdom Lake!
For the early risers Black Bass are scattered fair on top water. As the sun comes up Black Bass are good on a Texas rig or Carolina rig soft plastics, you might try your luck throwing small crankbaits as well.
Catch an easy limit of Sand Bass by fishing slabs vertically.

The Fish Are Biting!

Who says the fish at Possum Kingdom aren't biting? The recent change in the weather has most anglers on alert! With shorter day's the cooler temperatures have started to move the fish out of the deep water in search of the bait fish that are moving into the creeks.
The Black Bass will be gorging themselves to get ready for the winter months. You should have a good arsenal of lures to throw. The collection of lures I keep on hand during fall fishing range from top water lures, crank baits, jerk baits, swim baits, and spinner baits, as well as a standard Texas rigand Carolina rigged soft plastics.
